Surgical Scrub For Hand & Skin
Areas of Application: For preoperative and postoperative scrubbing of skin by hospital operating personnel; for preoperative use on patients as an antiseptic cleanser or for
general use as an antiseptic skin cleanser in the surgery.
Directions / Surgical Hand Scrub: Wet hands with water spread about 5 cc of Scrub over both hands and forearms without adding more water, scrub thoroughly for 2~3
minutes use a sponge if desired. Clean thoroughly under fingernails. Add a little water and develop copious suds. Rinse thoroughly under running water. Dry with a disposable
sterile towel. If you need repeat the entire procedure using another 5 cc of Scrub.
Antiseptic Hand Wash: Wet hands with water and pour about 5 cc of Scrub on hands rub hands vigorously together for at least 30 seconds, covering all surfaces rinse and
dry with a disposable sterile towel.
Patient Pre-operative Skin Preparation: Wet skin with water apply Scrub (1 cc is sufficient to cover an area of 20-30 cm), develop lather and scrub thoroughly for about 5
minutes rinse off using sterile gauze saturated with water the area may then be painted with MPC Povidoniodine 10% Solution and allowed to dry.
Microbiological Activity: BBactericidal, Fungicidal, Virucidal effect. Povidone-iodine has the antimicrobial spectrum of iodine. It has broad-spectrum activity; including
bacteria, fungi, viruses, protozoa cysts and spores. When used as directed, povidone-iodine scrub has an antibacterial effect on normal skin flora, disturbing them and suspending them in a soap/water mixture, which allows them to be rinsed away.
Composition: Povidone Iodine 7.5%, Disodiumhydrogenphosphate, Triethanol Amine, Alkyl Ether Sulfate, DI Water.
Warnings/Precautions: Durable 3 years. Less than 30°C. Consume open package within 3 months. For external use only. Do not use in the eyes! Do not use if known hypersensitivity to iodine. Do not use near mucous membranes or open wounds. Povidone-Iodine Scrub may cause staining but stains on natural fabrics may be removed with soap and water. Wash and rinse stained synthetic fabrics in dilute ammonia. Use in Pregnancy and Lactation: Use with caution and limit applications to
hands for surgical scrub only as per directions for use. Although no adverse effect is expected from such application, users should be aware of the possible effects of
absorption of iodine on thyroid functions in both mother and foetus.
Use in Children: Premature infants. Not recommended for use as an antiseptic scrub on premature newborn infants. Full term infants. The use of povidone-iodine containing preparations on full term infants may present a small risk of transient hypothyroidism especially if applied to large areas of the body and/or for extended periods of time (greater than five days). Repeated or large applications of Povidone Iodine Scrub in full term infants should be used in conjunction with appropriate
